Schaerer
Eco-social activity is indispensable for human life. Hence the respective theoretical corpus, economics, needs a totally secure foundation — which traditional methodology lacks because of its widely unnoticed categorial self-limitation that must thus be overcome. A thorough analysis of this situation allows the systematic development of an uncompromising integrative approach that offers the necessary features. In particular, one of its theoretical results concerning value is outlined: a law of nature in economics that is thus constitutive for absolutely any form of economy and relevant for any economic valuation.
2008-01-01T00:00:00-05:00 Copyright (c) 2022 International Journal of Transdisciplinary Research CO2 Emissions by Economic Activities Are Not Really Responsible for the Global Warming: Another View 2022-08-12T12:17:01-04:00 Atsushi Tsuchida
Since the industrial revolution human beings have been emitting a huge amount of CO2, due to massive fossil fuels consumption combined with intensive use of limestone. Meteorologists have called for the reduction of amount of CO2 emissions that remain in the atmosphere, after being emitted by human activities, which are allegedly causing global warming. They have urged humankind to take effective measures in order to avoid catastrophic events in the future. In response to these serious concern, economists proposed various political and economic measures to reduce CO2 emissions and many national governments, excluding, among others, the USA, ratified the Kyoto protocol in February 2005, which assigned target CO2 emission reduction levels to each participating country.
2008-01-01T00:00:00-05:00 Copyright (c) 2022 International Journal of Transdisciplinary Research Ensuring That Development Metrics Consider Environmental Sustainability - A Proposal to Combine Development Metrics With an Ecological Threshold Variable 2022-08-12T12:00:03-04:00 Jeffrey Wilson Ronald Pelot Peter Tyedmers
Fifteen years after the global adoption of Sustainable Development as the crux of the development agenda, a very narrow range of metrics with little direct relation to sustainable development continues to dominate development policy at the international level. A concern is that these measures of development promote a vision of development that neglects environmental sustainability or worse invokes a vision of development that is unsustainable. This paper explores how combining development metrics with an ecological threshold variable provides a means to ensure that the pursuit of development objectives do not adversely impact environmental sustainability.
2008-01-01T00:00:00-05:00 Copyright (c) 2022 International Journal of Transdisciplinary Research Beyond the Realms of the Specialists: The Challenge of the Generalized Issue 2022-08-12T12:09:53-04:00 William Bostock
Who could not hold in awe the achievements of today's specialists in science or technology? Moreover, the risks of overruling specialists can be catastrophic, as demonstrated by the Challenger disaster, to take just one example. Yet there are challenges still beyond the reach of the specialist. In the realm of medicine, there is the baffling Anorexia Nervosa. In veterinary science, there is the devastating foot and mouth disease. In the field of Internet gambling, there is another example of the need for a transdisciplinary teamwork approach to a behavioral problem. The result is that there is a need for a new role, the "specializing generalist".
2008-01-01T00:00:00-05:00 Copyright (c) 2022 International Journal of Transdisciplinary Research
